### **Job Description** The Maintenance Technician works within a production/technical department, focusing on the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance. The primary objective of a Maintenance Technician's work is to prevent any malfunctioning of equipment, devices, machines, or systems used in the production process. The Maintenance Technician may also support other facilities beyond production, such as R\+D laboratories, office facilities, as well as technical buildings (utilities) and logistics and storage systems. The job handles any troubleshooting to keep the production process running and performs tasks to prevent future interruptions. The job may be limited to a single technical area (such as construction, mechanical, rotary, electrical), or it may be more specialized so that, in addition to a broader technical area, the Maintenance Technician can solve problems in related technical fields. Depending on the size of the facility, the number of Maintenance Technicians may vary across technical disciplines and levels of experience. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES * **I****nspections and preventive/planned maintenance** + Checks and evaluates the condition of handling equipment, pneumatic and/or mechanical/electrical installations, receiving facilities and silos, milling, mixing and pressing lines, bag filling, feeding and/or fertilizing, bulk loading and scales, based on maintenance programs/checklists. + Restores (imminent) defects and carries out corrective maintenance activities arising from inspections (as scheduled). + Reports (potential) defects to the supervisor with details on nature and severity, proposes solutions to prevent (future or recurring) problems with the operation of (parts of) equipment/machines/conveyor systems. + Requests/inspects spare parts and materials for maintenance. + Works on planned maintenance activities of a more extensive and/or complex nature (e.g., during maintenance shutdowns), possibly supervising third-party technicians. * **Breakdowns and defects/repairs** + Resolves breakdowns and defects in equipment, machines, measurement and control systems, and other parts of the installation. + Assesses the nature and extent of the problem and determines whether immediate repair is necessary or possible, evaluates failure causes and potential solutions. + Performs emergency repairs, disassembles (parts of) equipment/machines, and makes necessary repairs/modifications, if needed in consultation with the supervisor. + Carries out more extensive repairs within deadlines and according to prepared plans and instructions (disassembly/assembly, part replacement, component adjustment). + Works with colleagues on tasks of a more extensive and/or complex nature. You may supervise outsourced technicians. * **Modifications and improvements** + Performs modification and overhaul work based on work orders and/or supervisor instructions. + Proposes improvements to equipment, machines, and other areas based on maintenance experience and knowledge. + Consults management on quality issues, technical matters, etc. + Orders the (re)manufacturing of specific components from drawings. + May perform various techniques (welding, lathe and sheet metal work, machining). * **Reporting** + Records all maintenance activities in appropriate maintenance management systems to ensure complete administration and visibility of the status and history of all equipment, archives all technical data. * Compliance + Operates in compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures (work permits, LoTo, etc.), as well as technical standards. + Identifies potentially dangerous and/or unsafe situations, takes appropriate action in case of imminent unsafe conditions. **Job Profile: Nutreco Family Job Framework Maintenance Technician** **QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE See also differentiating factors** * Technical education
