Job Summary: The Quality and Environmental Technician ensures the implementation and maintenance of the quality and environmental management system, guaranteeing compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Participation in continuous improvement projects and employee training Company: **100 Metros \- Industrial Packaging Company** Location: **Paços de Ferreira, Portugal** Reports to: Operations Management **Role:** The Quality and Environmental Technician is responsible for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of the company's quality and environmental management system in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other sector-relevant standards for packaging. This professional plays a key role in ensuring product quality, minimizing the environmental impact of operations, and complying with applicable regulations. **Responsibilities and Tasks:** Quality and Environmental Management System: * Manage the company's quality and environmental management system in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FSC, PEFC, and other relevant standards. * Develop and update system documentation (procedures, work instructions, records, etc.). * Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with the management system and identify opportunities for improvement. * Support external certification audits and follow up on identified nonconformities. * Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to quality and environment. Quality Control: * Define and implement quality control plans for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. * Perform quality inspections and tests on products using appropriate equipment and methods. * Analyze test results and identify root causes of nonconformities. * Propose and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality. * Monitor and analyze quality indicators (KPIs) and report results to management. Environmental Management: * Implement and monitor the company's environmental management plan, including waste management, efficient use of natural resources, and pollution prevention. * Conduct environmental impact assessments of company activities. * Identify and evaluate significant environmental aspects and impacts of operations. * Propose and implement measures to minimize the environmental impact of company activities. * Monitor and analyze environmental performance indicators (KPIs) and report results to management. * Manage the company's environmental licensing and ensure compliance with legal obligations. Continuous Improvement: * Participate in quality and environmental continuous improvement projects using tools such as Kaizen and 5S. * Identify process improvement opportunities and propose innovative solutions. * Monitor implementation of improvement actions and evaluate their outcomes. * Promote quality and environmental culture within the company through employee training and awareness initiatives. Other Tasks: * Collaborate with other company departments (production, maintenance, logistics, etc.) to ensure product quality and environmental protection. * Participate in meetings and working groups related to quality and environment. * Prepare reports and presentations on quality and environmental topics. * Stay updated on standards, regulations, and trends in the field of quality and environment. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Quality, Environment, Industrial, etc.). * Minimum 7 years of experience in similar roles, preferably within industrial companies. * Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other packaging-sector-relevant standards. * Knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to industry (e.g., waste management, atmospheric emissions, effluents, etc.). * Familiarity with quality control and environmental management tools. * Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, quality management software, etc.). * Good command of English (spoken and written); Spanish is highly valued. * Valid driver's license.
