Opportunities for professional growth and development #### **About the Senior Materials \& Processes Engineer Role** Luza Group is seeking a **Senior Materials \& Processes Engineer** to join a flagship project in the aerospace and aeronautical sector in Évora. This professional will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the selection, development, qualification, and optimization of materials and manufacturing processes applied to aerospace components and structures, ensuring adherence to the highest performance, quality, safety, and certification requirements. The role plays a strategic part in defining technical specifications, qualifying materials and processes, analyzing non-conformities, and supporting the industrialization of innovative products, contributing to the development of advanced technologies and enhancing the competitiveness of the aerospace programs in which the organization participates. **Key Responsibilities** -------------------------------- ### **Materials and Processes Engineering** * Define, select, and qualify metallic materials, composites, and their respective manufacturing processes for aerospace applications. * Establish technical requirements and approve materials in accordance with program and customer specifications. * Lead the definition and validation of production processes, ensuring robustness, repeatability, and regulatory compliance. ### **Technical Authority** * Serve as the technical reference for matters related to materials, special processes, and manufacturing technologies. * Provide technical guidance to Engineering, Quality, Production, and Industrialization teams. * Support decision-making on critical matters related to performance, certification, and technical feasibility. ### **Qualification and Certification** * Define and oversee material and process qualification plans. * Ensure compliance with regulatory and standard requirements of the aerospace industry. * Prepare and review technical documentation supporting audits, certifications, and approvals by customers or regulatory bodies. ### **Technical Analysis and Problem Solving** * Lead failure investigations, production deviations, and non-conformities related to materials and processes. * Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions. * Evaluate technical impacts and propose sustainable, long-term solutions. ### **Engineering and Document Management** * Analyze and validate engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing requirements. * Develop, create, and review internal standards for materials and processes. * Ensure updating and harmonization of associated technical documentation. ### **Innovation and Technological Development** * Identify opportunities for applying new materials, processes, and advanced manufacturing technologies. * Contribute to research, development, and technological innovation activities. * Monitor emerging trends in the aerospace and aeronautical industry and promote their application in ongoing programs. ### **Multidisciplinary Collaboration** * Work closely with national and international engineering and development teams. * Participate in technologically advanced projects involving multiple engineering disciplines. * Support knowledge transfer and technical mentoring of more junior profiles. **Mandatory Requirements** --------------------------- * Integrated Master’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent field. * **Minimum of 15 years’ professional experience** in Materials and Processes roles, preferably within the aeronautical, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries. * Proven experience in defining, qualifying, and approving materials and processes for critical applications. * Solid knowledge of metallic materials, aerospace alloys, composite materials, and special processes. * Experience in analyzing and validating engineering drawings and technical specifications. * Experience in drafting, reviewing, and approving materials and processes standards. * Strong experience in failure analysis, resolution of complex problems, and continuous improvement. * In-depth knowledge of regulatory and standard requirements of the aerospace industry (EASA, FAA, EN, ASTM, NAS or equivalents). * Technical fluency in English (spoken and written) and Portuguese. * Availability for 100% on-site work in Évora. **Key Competencies** ----------------------- * Technical leadership and ability to influence. * Analytical thinking and structured problem-solving. * High technical rigor and attention to detail. * Ability to operate in highly demanding technological environments. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Orientation toward innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. * Ability to mentor and develop technical teams. **What LUZA Group Offers** ------------------------------ * Integration into LUZA Group, participating in a strategic and technologically differentiated project in the aerospace and aeronautical sector. * Involvement in innovative programs and highly complex technical projects. * A collaborative, multidisciplinary, and innovation-oriented environment. * Opportunities for professional growth and development. * Competitive remuneration commensurate with seniority and demonstrated experience.
