We combine expertise in Data Engineering, Data Analysis, and Data Management to deliver high\-quality data pipelines, insightful reporting, and strong governance frameworks, working closely with business teams across Europe. Our mission is to ensure trusted, consistent, and accessible data that empowers smarter decision\-making and supports the evolution of the enterprise Hiscox Data Strategy. **The Role** ------------ The Data Analyst for the Europe Data Team analyses business requirements and available data across our European analytics platform, which uses Microsoft Azure and Databricks. This role clarifies business needs, identifies improvements, and helps guide the platform’s development in line with the Hiscox Data Strategy. Working with technical teams, the Data Analyst defines solutions to deliver reliable and accurate insights for functions such as Sales, Underwriting, and Finance, using tools such as Power BI and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. With ongoing data transformation across Europe, this position offers the opportunity to shape strategic outcomes while supporting daily operations and existing commitments. **Key Responsibilities** ------------------------ ### **Business \& Data Analysis** * Analyse and document business requirements to support reporting and analytical needs. * Perform data analysis and discovery across multiple sources to validate data quality, identify gaps, and support decision\-making. * Extract and prepare data to support ad hoc business requests. * Monitor analytical platform outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business expectations. ### **Data Modelling \& Mapping** * Support data modelling and mapping activities, ensuring that business rules are correctly defined and implemented. * Analyse data from various systems to support the mapping processes feeding the European Data Platform. ### **Collaboration \& Solution Design** * Work closely with data engineers and business stakeholders to translate and align functional requirements into effective technical solutions. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of data processes, standards, and platform evolution. ### **Reporting \& Visualisation (Power BI)** * Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights to stakeholders. * Build and manage data models, relationships, and calculations within Power BI. * Apply best practices in data visualisation to create clear and impactful dashboards. * Stay up to date with new Power BI features and industry trends to continuously improve reporting capabilities. **Skills** ---------- ### **Technical Skills** * Good understanding of data mapping and business intelligence concepts. * Knowledge of data modelling techniques, including star schema. * Experience using SQL to query and manipulate data. * Hands\-on experience with Power BI, including report creation, data modelling, and DAX. * Experience with Databricks, or exposure to Databricks\-based data and analytics environments, would be advantageous. ### **Functional Skills** * Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain insights to non\-technical stakeholders. * At least three years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data and Analytics roles. * Experience in functional analysis, ideally within the insurance industry. ### **Education \& Languages** * Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field. * Fluent English, both spoken and written. **Person Specification** ------------------------ * Self\-motivated and able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team. * Positive attitude and a strong interest in creating value from data. * Able to communicate ideas clearly to both technical and non\-technical audiences. * Skilled at translating business needs into practical technical solutions. * Strong relationship\-building skills with end users. * Comfortable working in environments with ambiguity and change. * Flexible, adaptable, and resilient. *Work with amazing people and be part of a unique culture*
