Focus on innovation and development of new materials **Senior Technological Research Engineers MSc** **REF: Senior Engineer\_MSc BIOWRAP\_1 and 2** **Location**: Portugal, Eixo / Aveiro **Contract Type**: Indefinite-term contract **Company**: RAIZ \- Forest and Paper Research Institute **Mission** **RAIZ – Forest and Paper Research Institute** intends to hire two **Senior Technological Research Engineers holding a Master’s degree**, for its Technological Research and Development area, under the European Project «BIOWRAP: Scaling the First Industrial Flagship for 100% Paper\-Based Bubble Wrap Towards a Plastic\-Free Europe», funded under Call HORIZON\-JU\-CBE\-2025\-IAFlag\-03\. The work will be carried out at RAIZ Institute’s facilities in Eixo, in collaboration with European R&D centers and companies, and is scheduled to commence on June 1, 2026\. The indefinite-term contract for MSc BIOWRAP\_1 is expected to last 60 months, and the indefinite-term contract for MSc BIOWRAP\_2 is expected to last 36 months. **Main Responsibilities** Conduct research and development activities in the field of cellulose-based materials, including pulp and paper. Search, analyze, and systematize technical literature and intellectual property documentation with respect to the development of new materials and processes. Develop work plans and conduct laboratory and pilot-scale equipment experiments. Monitor industrial trials. Prepare, organize, and participate in project meetings, and draft progress reports. **What We Value:** **Academic Qualifications** Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering / Materials Engineering / Chemistry or related fields. **Knowledge and Experience** Preferred criteria: industrial experience in a relevant field, or experience/knowledge in pulp and/or paper production processes, characterization and development of cellulose-based materials. Proficiency in English (spoken and written); Valid driver’s license held for over one year and practical driving experience. **Soft Skills** Goal orientation and problem-solving ability. Planning, monitoring of activities, and deadline management. Critical thinking and ability to critically analyze laboratory and industrial data and results. Rigor, dynamism, and autonomy.
