Light: Bright indirect light Water: Regular watering Soil: Rich, well-drained Temperature: Requires frost protection if planted outdoors. Origin: Malaysia and Sri Lanka; Family: Araceae; Ecology: Rhizomatous, perennial species typical of sunny to semi-shaded environments, spreading rapidly via sprouts from the main plant. Highly tropical, tolerates waterlogging – thus suitable as a marsh plant – but not frost-tolerant; Habit: Erect, robust, vigorous herbaceous plant with thick stems and height up to 1 m; Foliage: Enormous leaves up to 1 m long, fleshy, with slightly wavy margins, prominent veins, and supported by very thick petioles. Characteristically heart-shaped, remaining upright and pointing upward. Flowering: Typical inflorescences of the family, occasional and without significant landscape impact; Landscape use: Giant Elephant Ear is suitable for solitary planting in gardens of various sizes, and for grouping in large spaces—either as mass plantings, rows, or borders alongside walls and fences. One suggestion is planting in garden corners, since its large leaves easily fill these spaces and can conceal undesirable elements. All our available plants at www.raizesverdes.pt
