Job Summary: We are seeking an Environmental Technician to manage waste, monitor the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), and support environmental compliance at a canning company in Póvoa de Varzim. Socio-professional recognition A prestigious company in the canning sector, located in the Laúndos industrial zone of Póvoa de Varzim, seeks to strengthen its team with an: **Environmental Technician** Reporting directly to the Environmental Manager and based at the company headquarters, the new employee will be responsible for: \- Supporting operational waste management at the facility, including proper segregation, packaging, storage, and dispatch to authorized operators, in accordance with established guidelines; \- Monitoring and supporting WWTP operations, collaborating on performance monitoring and adherence to established procedures; \- Supporting preparation for and follow-up of internal and external audits, as well as inspections by competent authorities; \- Collaborating in collecting, organizing, and processing information required to fulfill the organization’s legal and environmental obligations; \- Supporting implementation of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), specifically through: \- Collecting and organizing data related to packaging used; \- Coordinating with various departments to obtain necessary information; \- Preparing supporting documentation; \- Compiling information for reporting and tracking legislative developments; \- Collaborating in implementing procedures and continuous improvement actions impacting the unit’s environmental performance; \- Supporting environmental awareness initiatives for operational teams; \- Performing other supporting tasks for the Environmental Department, as required by organizational needs and under the guidance of the Environmental Manager. **Required Profile:** \- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. \- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, preferably in an industrial environment. \- Experience in industrial waste management and WWTP monitoring. \- Solid knowledge of Portuguese environmental legislation. \- Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001\). \- Knowledge of or interest in developing expertise in implementing the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). \- Strong organizational, planning, and critical analysis skills. \- High sense of responsibility, autonomy, and results orientation. \- Good communication and interpersonal skills. \- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel. \- English language proficiency. \- Spanish language proficiency \- *an asset*. **We Offer:** \- Competitive remuneration aligned with the candidate’s profile; \- Socio-professional recognition; \- Integration into a solid company with opportunities for career progression.
