Job Summary: IRISTECH seeks a Databricks Data Engineer for a confidential financial institution, focusing on migrating data architecture from Azure Synapse to Databricks and optimizing data transformation pipelines. Experience in Data Governance, including data catalog and lineage Location: Lisbon, Portugal (hybrid — minimum 2 days/week in the office) About the Opportunity IRISTECH is recruiting a Databricks Data Engineer to join the Data & Analytics team of a financial institution headquartered in Lisbon (confidential project), as part of a data engineering architecture migration project from Azure Synapse to Databricks. This is a purely technical, hands-on execution role — not an architecture or leadership position. The primary objective is to accelerate internal team adoption of Databricks and strengthen engineering capacity during the migration, within the group's adopted Data Vault model (bronze, silver, and gold layers). What You’ll Do * Build and optimize transformation pipelines across the three layers of the Data Vault model: bronze (raw source data), silver (structured and processed data, data lake layer), and gold (business-ready consumption layer) * Support data governance capabilities as part of engineering work, specifically data catalog and data lineage * Ensure governance is embedded into the new architecture from the outset * Directly contribute to migrating workloads from Azure Synapse to Databricks What We’re Looking For * Specific hands-on experience with Databricks (not just Spark or generic cloud data engineering) * Strong background in Data Engineering, with proven experience building and optimizing pipelines in layered architectures / data lake environments * Experience in Data Governance — implementation and management of data catalog and data lineage * Approximately 4–5 years of experience * Fluent English Nice-to-Have * Familiarity with Data Vault modeling * Portuguese (advantageous but not mandatory) * Experience with Databricks AI/ML capabilities Conditions * Hybrid work arrangement, minimum 2 days/week onsite in Lisbon (with occasional remote work) If you have real, practical Databricks experience, enjoy working on data migration projects, and want to directly contribute to building a new data architecture, send us your application.
