Description
Summary: Hands-on Infrastructure Engineer running Windows/SQL Server fleets for hospitality clients, focusing on automation and modernization. Highlights: 1. Modernizing infrastructure with git, PR review, runbooks, and Ansible 2. Opportunity to own the shift to modern infrastructure end-to-end 3. Funded training path for Azure certifications and Red Hat Ansible **Infrastructure Engineer — Windows / SQL / Automation** **About Host Hotel Systems** Host Hotel Systems is the largest technology provider for the hospitality sector in Portugal, supporting hotel and property clients. We're modernizing how we run infrastructure — moving from manual, point\-and\-click administration toward git, PR review, runbooks, and Ansible — and we're building a small team that owns that shift end to end. **Location \& working pattern** Based out of any Host office — Algarve, Lisbon, Torres Vedras, or Braga — 4 days/week on site. Most client work is performed remotely. **The role** A hands\-on infrastructure engineer on a small team running Windows/SQL Server fleets for hotel properties across a private virtual data center and client on\-premises environments. You'll deploy and migrate client servers, keep backups and monitoring honest, automate the repeatable work — and share in running our Microsoft 365 estate and internal IT. Roughly two\-thirds of the role is client infrastructure; about a third is Microsoft 365 administration and internal IT support. **What you'll do:** Client infrastructure (\~70%) * Install and migrate client environments — Windows Server, SQL Server, IIS, and the Host stack — on schedule and documented. * Configure and verify backups; deploy monitoring and access agents. * Automate with PowerShell and Ansible. All changes go through git with PR review — we'll teach the workflow. * Write and maintain runbooks for anything repeatable. * Coordinate with hotel property contacts during installations and migrations. * Join the on\-call rotation (compensated per contract terms). Microsoft 365 \& internal IT (\~30%) * Administer our Microsoft 365 tenant — Exchange Online, Entra ID, user and license lifecycle — and help drive the Intune/endpoint rollout. * Provide internal IT support: troubleshoot, fix, and where it makes sense, automate the recurring work. **Must have** * Solid Windows Server administration. * PowerShell aptitude — you can read and adapt scripts, and have written some. We'll grow this. * SQL Server fundamentals: install, configure, backup/restore. * Microsoft 365 administration experience (tenant\-level, not just end\-user). * Networking basics. * Portuguese and English. * Able to work 4 days/week from one of our offices. **Strong plus** * Ansible, or any infrastructure\-as\-code. * Monitoring experience or interest — there's an ownership lane open. * Intune / Autopilot / endpoint management. * AZ\-900\-level Azure. * Tailscale / WireGuard. * Hospitality or PMS background. **What we offer** * A team mid\-modernization — git, PRs, runbooks, Ansible — with real ownership early. * A funded training path: Azure certifications, Red Hat Ansible courses, books. * An active ISO 27001 programme to be part of. * 23 vacation days per year, and a benefits package including health insurance. **Salary range for this position is €20,000 – €25,000 gross per year, aligned with experience and technical expertise.** Ready to take the next step in your career?
