The AN7140 is a high-quality Panasonic integrated circuit widely used in audio amplification during the 1980s and 1990s. Although its output power ranges from 4 to 5W, its sound quality and volume performance exceed expectations. 5W power amplifier with 9V–18V supply voltage—the full 5W output is achieved at 16–18V; lower supply voltages result in proportionally reduced output power. Applications include portable radios, turntables, and cassette players. Also used in car radios with a 12–14V supply and 4-ohm speakers. Package: SIP-9 Designed to be mounted onto an appropriate heat sink; it can operate reliably for many hours without significant heating issues or audio output degradation. Refer to the component’s datasheet for complete information about this amplifier and guidance on building a functional amplifier using only a few external components.
