D. Leonor arrives in Portugal as the wife of D. Duarte, heir to the throne. Through this marriage, Portugal established an alliance with Aragon and positioned itself within the sphere of influence of the powerful lineage of the 'infantes of Aragon', of which she was a part. Thus, D. Leonor brought with her the deadly hatreds between the factions that at the time tore apart the Iberian kingdoms. She was a cultured and capable woman, prepared to govern; indeed, D. Duarte, already mortally ill from the plague, appointed her regent. Old frustrations and rivalries then erupted, and the sad queen had to leave Portugal and go into exile in Castile. During the eleven years she was queen, she bore nine children to the king and the kingdom. • Authors: Margarida Garcez Ventura and Julieta Araújo • Publisher: Academia Portuguesa da História • Series: Rainhas e Infantas de Portugal • Edition: 2011 • Dimensions: 156 x 186 x 14 mm • 94 pages • Hardcover • Condition: Like new • Price: 4.00 € • Additional 1.00 € for shipping costs via standard registered mail • Additional 3.60 € for shipping costs via tracked registered mail (recommended) Please be sure to check my other books.
