Interaction with mold makers and OEMs #### **About the Tooling Engineer Role** **Tooling Engineer (Automotive)** --------------------------------- **Location:** Oliveira de Azeméis region, Portugal **Client Location:** Zaragoza ### **Job Mission** Join the client’s Tooling team (currently comprising 6 Tool Leaders), ensuring full technical management of injection molds from the definition phase through SOP \+ 3 months after ramp\-up, guaranteeing quality, timing, and cost control. Team expansion is linked to new project intake, with emphasis on having resources located in Portugal, close to key regional mold makers. ### **Key Responsibilities** * Define mold policy for new projects * Launch and follow up on RFQs with mold makers * Technical analysis of proposals (costs, timing, technical concept) * Monitor mold construction (built\-to\-print or full development) * Attend and validate first trials (try\-outs) at mold makers’ facilities * Manage engraving and technical modifications * Mold qualification at plant * Ensure adherence to quality, timelines, and budget * Provide support until SOP \+ 3 months after ramp\-up ### **Technical Context** * Main molds: + Instrument Panels (IP) + Door panels + Platform parts * Involved OEMs: + SEAT / VW + Mercedes + BMW + STLA + RSA * Product development predominantly outsourced (e.g., Magna, Bertrandt, EDAG) * Strong interaction with mold makers in the Oliveira de Azeméis region ### **Requirements** ### **Desired Profile** * Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field * Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive tooling * In-depth knowledge of injection molds for automotive interiors * Experience managing molds from RFQ through SOP * Experience in an OEM or Tier 1 environment * Supplier negotiation capability * Autonomy and proximity to the field (on-site presence at mold makers is critical) * Fluency in English (Spanish is a plus) ### **Behavioral Competencies** * Hands\-on profile * Results-oriented * Ability to manage multiple projects * Strong communication skills with technical teams and suppliers
