Integration into a leading corporate group Position: Legal Counsel – Expropriation Specialist Department: Legal / Technical Direct Supervisor: Legal Director / Technical Directorate Work Location: Head office and travel to various locations nationwide Employment Type: Full-time **1\. Function Mission** Ensure the legal management of expropriation, administrative easement, and land regularization proceedings, guaranteeing compliance with applicable legislation and safeguarding the interests of the company and its clients from the investigative phase through judicial or administrative resolution. **2\. Main Responsibilities** * Manage and prepare expropriation proceedings for public utility, from the declaratory phase through compensation. * Draft legal opinions and technical notes on the legal framework governing expropriations, easements, and land regularization. * Support the technical team in analyzing property titles, land registry records, and tax maps. * Prepare and review contracts, deeds, and draft legal documents related to land acquisition or transfer. * Represent the company or clients in meetings with public and private entities. * Monitor administrative and judicial proceedings before Municipal Councils, Regional Coordination and Development Commissions (CCDRs), Regional Directorates, and Courts. * Collaborate with the surveying and cadastre team in interpreting and validating cadastral plans and descriptive reports. * Ensure compliance with legal provisions, deadlines, and procedures stipulated in the Expropriation Code and related legislation. * Support internal training of the technical team on the legal framework governing expropriations. **3\. Position Requirements** Academic Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Law. * Valid membership in the Portuguese Bar Association (preferred). Experience: * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Administrative Law and Expropriations. * Proven experience in expropriation, easement, and land regularization proceedings. Technical Competencies: * In-depth knowledge of the Expropriation Code and related legislation (Legal Framework for Urbanization and Construction – RJUE; Civil Code; Administrative Procedure Code). * Legal drafting ability, documentary analysis skills, and capacity to interpret land registry records and cadastral plans. * Experience engaging with public and private entities in expropriation-related matters.
