Toastmasters is a nonprofit organization and the global leader in communication (speaking, listening, and thinking) and leadership development. You will find a positive learning environment with mutual support, where each member has the opportunity to enhance their communication and leadership skills. COMMUNICATION: At Toastmasters, you can master new tools to improve your communication abilities, identify all areas needing improvement, recognize your strengths to further strengthen them, and use the communication process effectively to achieve your purpose in every speech. LEADERSHIP: Sometimes we step onto the stage; other times, we stay behind the scenes leading the frontline! When we are behind the scenes, we have the responsibility to support those who take the stage to deliver their speeches. This responsibility is reflected in specific roles, such as speech evaluators. THE LAGOAS SPEAKERS TOASTMASTERS CLUB: The Lagoas Speakers meet weekly at Cisco every Thursday at 12:30 PM. Typically, sessions are divided into three parts, each featuring a different type of speech: PREPARED: Weekly, we have members delivering prepared speeches based on the communication manual, whether it's the basic or advanced manuals. IMPROMPTU: The challenge… 30 seconds to think and… deliver a speech. EVALUATION: Constructive feedback provided on the entire session, from speeches to evaluators. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?: Visiting is free! Come visit us and see for yourself how it works! WHO CAN ATTEND? Anyone interested in developing their communication and leadership skills, from students to professionals of any age. You may bring guests.
