Be a part of a project following engineering excellence standards We're looking for a **Junior Java Developer** to join our team in Lisbon, Portugal in a hybrid working mode. You will work within the Client \& Market team to develop and optimize backend solutions for omni\-channel retail platforms, supporting luxury Maisons across e\-commerce environments. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands\-on experience with scalable microservices and modern architectures while contributing to seamless digital and physical customer journeys. **Responsibilities** * Analyze business and technical requirements to support backend solution design for omni\-retail processes * Develop, test and debug Java\-based microservices under senior engineers’ guidance, ensuring maintainability and reliability * Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and integration issues with mentorship support * Collaborate with the Support team to investigate incidents related to omni\-retail and order management * Work with DevOps teams to understand CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows * Write clean, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews to enhance technical quality **Requirements** * 1–2 years of Java development experience or strong academic foundation with demonstrable projects * Familiarity with Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem (e.g., Spring Data JPA, Hibernate); hands\-on exposure is a plus * Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web communication concepts (HTTP, JSON) * Exposure to or interest in microservices architecture and event\-driven systems * Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL; exposure to NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) is desirable * Basic knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git * Interest in learning tools like Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines * Good communication skills, strong collaboration mindset * Fluent in English, written and spoken **Nice to have** * Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure * Familiarity with tools like Jira or Confluence * Interest in e\-commerce, retail or luxury brand ecosystems **We offer** * Competitive compensation depending on experience and skills * Variety of projects within one company * Being a part of a project following engineering excellence standards * Individual career path and professional growth opportunities * Internal events and communities * Flexible work hours
