Design and optimize data models and database interactions **Job Title:** Backend Developer **Location:** Lisbon **Contract Type:** Full\-time **About the Role** We are looking for an experience Backend Developer to join our Cognitive Sensing team at Hyperion and contribute to the development of scalable, reliable, and maintainable web applications used in real production environments. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient server\-side components and data pipelines that power modern applications and services. Alongside core backend work, you will play a central role in building AI\-powered features directly into the product — from integrating models and designing intelligent workflows to ensuring these capabilities are performant, reliable, and maintainable at scale. You will work closely with product, UX, and other engineers to design and deliver features that balance performance, usability, and long\-term maintainability. **What You’ll Do:** * Design and develop scalable, secure, and reusable back\-end services and APIs. * Implement event\-driven systems leveraging Azure Event Hub, Service Bus, or open source equivalents like Kafka and RabbitMQ. * Design and optimize data models and database interactions. * Ensure application quality through testing, code reviews, and best engineering practices. * Integrate AI/ML models into production systems, working closely with data scientists and AI engineers. * Collaborate with cross\-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. * Participate in architecture discussions, technical decision\-making, and continuous improvement. Schréder Confidential, All rights reserved, Schréder 2026 * Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting in production environments. **Tech Stack** Primary * Backend: .NET (C\#), Python(is a plus) * APIs: RESTful services, microservices * Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB * Containers: Docker Infrastructure \& Practices: * Cloud: Azure (preferred) * DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodology * Version control: Git * Messaging \& events: Event\-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ) **What We’re Looking For** * Strong experience building production\-grade high\-volume data streaming solutions. * Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (clean code, OOP, SOLID principles). * Experience designing and consuming APIs. * Comfortable working with relational, NoSQL databases is a plus. * Experience working in Agile, collaborative engineering teams. * Strong problem\-solving skills. **Nice to Have / Optional Skills** AI / Full\-Stack Skills (OPTIONAL) * Experience or strong interest in AI\-enabled application development. * Familiarity with Retrieval\-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, including vector databases and embedding\-based search. * Exposure to machine learning concepts, model inference, and evaluation. * Hands\-on experience integrating ML or LLM\-based services into backend systems. * Understanding of AI\-related constraints such as latency, cost, data quality, and security. * Experience collaborating with data scientists, ML engineers or data engineers in production environments.
