Challenging environment focused on professional development Checkmarx is recruiting a Security Researcher to join the Security Research team in Braga, on a full\-time and hybrid basis. This role falls within the Product area and focuses on application security research, AI security, and emerging technologies, contributing to the evolution of Checkmarx’s AST solutions—including SAST, SCA, DAST, and other security capabilities. **Responsibilities:** Research security aspects across multiple programming languages, frameworks, and technologies; Perform secure code reviews and analyze results generated by Checkmarx’s AST solutions; Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in application security products; Analyze code containing various types of vulnerabilities across multiple languages and frameworks; Propose improvements based on technical expertise in application security; Contribute to the evolution of products such as SAST, SCA, DAST, and related solutions; Enhance detection capabilities by designing, tuning, and validating detection logic and rules; Support developers and stakeholders on application security topics; Document findings and share knowledge with the team; Review peers’ work and support less experienced researchers; Work autonomously on complex technical problems. **Requirements:** Solid knowledge of application security; Deep understanding of security concepts, vulnerabilities, mitigation techniques, and secure coding best practices; Professional experience in security—e.g., security research, web application penetration testing, secure development, secure code review, or similar areas; Familiarity with both interpreted and compiled programming languages; Familiarity with software development and associated methodologies; Ability to independently learn new programming languages and technologies; Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Ability to foster collaboration and innovation; Ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced and demanding environment; Proficiency in English, including written and oral presentation. **Offer:** Full\-time employment; Hybrid work model in Braga; Join an application security research team; Work on security products used by enterprises and organizations across multiple countries; Challenging work environment focused on professional development; Competitive compensation; Work\-life balance; Year\-round benefits and perks. **About Checkmarx:** Checkmarx is a leader in application security and the creator of the cloud\-native Checkmarx One platform.
