Communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen and room mechanical equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radios). Identify, locate, and operate all equipment shut-off valves and utility service shutoff levers for buildings. Maintain required inventory levels for maintenance and order necessary parts and supplies. Communicate daily activities and issues to other teams using approved communication standards and programs. Possess basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following areas: HVAC and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and building systems. Perform all surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and woodwork repairs, light bulb and air conditioner filter replacements, and thorough cleaning of painting or repair areas. Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components—including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices—replace switches and electrical outlets, and other guestroom items. Program televisions and perform general engineering-related maintenance and inventory tasks. Use lockout/tagout procedures before performing maintenance work. Perform repairs to interior and exterior landscaping as well as exterior landscape sprinklers. Possess basic computer skills, including entering air handling unit schedules and adjusting temperature settings. Follow all company policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, hazardous working conditions, accidents, and injuries; successfully complete safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials per safety guidelines. Ensure wearing a clean, complete uniform; maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times while on duty; respect confidentiality when sharing information specific to the brand and/or hotel; and protect all company property. Greet and welcome all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guest service needs; assist guests with disabilities; and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Adhere to quality requirements and standards. Develop positive and constructive professional relationships with peers; collaborate and support one another to achieve common goals; listen and respond appropriately to other employees’ concerns. Use clear and courteous language in all communications. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than 50 pounds (22.7 kg) unassisted, and heavier items with assistance. Climb up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders. Reach objects above head height and below knee level, including bending, twisting the body, pulling, and squatting. Enter and retrieve job-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant professional or technical experience recommended. Relevant Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, interior and exterior surface preparation and painting. Hotel maintenance/engineering experience is an asset.
