Collaborate on R&D and automation projects NielsenIQ is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join its Data Science team in Lisbon, in a flexible work model with 1 day per week in the office and 4 days remote. In this role, you will play a key part in developing the next generation of retail measurement solutions, focused on e\-commerce, using algorithms, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and large volumes of internal data, client data, and third\-party data. NielsenIQ provides consumer insights and intelligence across more than 100 markets, helping clients understand FMCG market evolution and consumer purchasing behavior. In 2023, NIQ merged with GfK, strengthening its global presence and analytical capabilities. **Responsibilities:** Collaborate with various teams, including other data scientists specializing in different domains, on R\&D and automation projects to address business needs; Translate client requirements into actionable solutions or products; Conceive and develop solutions for the product innovation pipeline; Define business problems as scientific research problems; Define and lead the R\&D and prototyping solutions roadmap; Research solutions, define and execute experiments, build prototypes, and support the Technology team in transitioning them to production; Build statistical and analytical models, including machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches, as prototypes and proofs of concept to address specific client needs; Test and optimize models using big data, fine\-tuning parameters and iterating solutions; Document solutions, experiments, and specifications so the Technology team can deploy them into production; Read, write, comment on, maintain, and share clear, high\-quality code used in prototyping and solution development. **Requirements:** Bachelor’s, Master’s, or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field, with strong analytical ability and solid technical foundation; 5 to 8 years of experience in data science or research; Strong knowledge of statistical methodologies and machine learning, including sampling theory, probability theory, analysis of variance, outlier detection techniques, regression, classification, time series, clustering, Monte Carlo simulations, and neural networks; Proficiency in Python and common data science libraries; Ability to collaborate cross\-functionally and deliver results within deadlines and specifications; Experience in experiment design, prototyping, and supporting pilot programs for R\&D purposes. **Preferred Qualifications:** PhD in a relevant field; Strong communication skills and ability to present and explain methodological and operational solutions to executive leadership. **Compensation:** The salary range for this position is €36,600 to €53,200 gross per year. The role may also be eligible for a performance\-based bonus.
