About the job Data/Machine Learning Engineer LUZA Group is seeking a Data Engineer/Machine Learning Engineer to join an innovation project in the automotive sector, focused on developing Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithms trained using simulations in FlexSim, and their integration with MES systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing decision-support technologies for factory, production, and logistics managers, contributing to the optimization of industrial and operational processes in a real-world environment. Key Responsibilities and Tasks Explore and implement RL algorithms applied to simulated industrial scenarios Develop RL agents capable of interacting with FlexSim (for training) and learning optimization policies Integrate real data from MES systems with FlexSim simulations Develop dashboards and decision-support software targeted at operational managers Integrate and test solutions in an industrial pilot environment, refining the model with real feedback Document methodologies and support knowledge transfer to the team and end users Mandatory Requirements Bachelor's degree (or equivalent, QNQ 6) in Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Proven programming experience, preferably in Python (ML/AI libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch), with at least 2 years of experience. Practical knowledge of Reinforcement Learning Knowledge in system integration Preferred Requirements Experience in handling and analyzing industrial data (production, logistics, MES) Knowledge and experience in system integration (MES, ERP, SCADA) Understanding of explainability mechanisms (XAI) for interpreting Machine Learning results Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent **Preferred work model:** On-site. Hybrid or remote work is possible, with periodic visits to LUZA Group (Oliveira de Azeméis) and industrial units in Portugal (Center/North)
