Key Highlights:
1. Autonomous development of geotechnical projects
2. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
3. Active participation in workshops and evaluation of geotechnical solutions
**Purpose of the Role**
The Mid-level Geotechnical Engineer independently develops geotechnical projects from concept through execution design.
**Your Responsibilities**
* Plan geotechnical investigations and analyze their results to support design recommendations.
* Prepare and review geotechnical designs, reports, and other technical deliverables.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geology, civil, structures, BIM) to deliver integrated solutions.
* Support project planning, phasing, and resource allocation from a technical perspective.
* Participate in client meetings, presenting technical analyses and solutions.
* Ensure compliance with GEG’s quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
* Actively participate in early-phase project workshops, proposing and evaluating multiple geotechnical solutions to identify the most effective approach.
* Develop preliminary solutions and sizing estimates using engineering judgment and simplified analyses to rapidly assess solution feasibility and guide project development.
* Provide continuous input on constructability, phasing, and risks from a geotechnical perspective, ensuring that design solutions are practical and efficient from a construction standpoint.
**What We Are Looking For**
**Qualifications**
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
**Knowledge**
* Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundations, slope stability, and ground improvement.
* Practical experience executing geotechnical projects, including design, calculations, and report preparation.
* Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software and tools, particularly PLAXIS.
* Ability to interpret geotechnical investigations, estimate soil parameters, and propose practical design solutions.
* Familiarity with national and international safety codes, standards, and regulations.
* Experience in comparative analysis of different geotechnical solutions (e.g., deep vs. shallow foundations, various retaining structures or ground improvement techniques), considering technical feasibility, suitability, cost, and constructability.
* Ability to navigate and review models in BIM environments (Revit) and CAD platforms, including independently opening models, verifying geometric constraints and clashes, and effectively integrating geotechnical solutions with other disciplines.
**Competencies**
* **Technological Literacy –** Ability to use, understand, and adapt to digital tools and technologies relevant to the role.
* **Resilience, Flexibility, and Agility** – Ability to handle change, pressure, and challenges, adapting quickly to new priorities, contexts, and project requirements.
