Job Summary: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Labs & AI Transformation team, focused on applying artificial intelligence to software development for large-scale systems. Serve as the technical reference for artificial intelligence MC Digital is expanding its Labs \& AI Transformation team in Maia and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience in large-scale systems and an interest in applying artificial intelligence to software development. As the Information Technology division of MC, MC Digital leverages technology to transform the retail sector, enhance convenience, and improve customer experience. The team focuses on enabling the use of artificial intelligence in its products, systems, and engineering processes. **Responsibilities:** Explore, design, and implement AI agents and solutions applied to the software development lifecycle; Contribute to evolving engineering processes toward an AI-driven model—from conception through delivery and maintenance of solutions; Support engineering teams in adopting and integrating AI tools throughout the entire development lifecycle; Define and implement best practices, technical standards, and security requirements for using AI in software development; Participate in designing architectures that integrate AI, ensuring robustness, governance, and compliance; Evaluate frameworks, SDKs, low\-code and no\-code platforms, and their respective value within software engineering contexts; Serve as the technical reference, supporting diverse teams in decision-making and resolving complex AI-related challenges; Collaborate with engineering teams and various stakeholders to ensure alignment among platforms, processes, and technological objectives; Contribute to developing and evolving AI agents focused on productivity, code quality, and security; Promote engineering best practices through code reviews, mentoring, and participation in architecture and technology decisions. **Required Profile:** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; At least five years of experience developing software for production environments, including large-scale and highly available systems; Full\-stack experience with backend technologies such as .NET or Node.js, and frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript; Proficiency across the full software development lifecycle—from requirement discovery and definition through architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support; Experience with DevOps practices, continuous integration, and CI/CD pipelines—especially via GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps; Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and automation of build, test, and release processes; Strong interest in the artificial intelligence and machine learning ecosystem applied to software development; Practical experience with programming agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent tools; Technical leadership capability—including guiding teams, conducting code reviews, and mentoring professionals at varying experience levels; Experience defining coding standards, design patterns, technical documentation, and unit, integration, and end\-to\-end testing processes; Ability to translate business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions and contribute to backlog definition and estimation; Strong communication skills when interacting with technical teams, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders; Continuous interest in emerging technologies—particularly in artificial intelligence and developer tools. **Compensation and Benefits:** Meal allowance paid in cash or via Dá Card, whichever is more advantageous; Telecommunications plan including voice, data, and equipment; Flex it Up program offering additional days off, unpaid leave, and flexible work arrangements where applicable; Health and life insurance for permanent employees, extendable to family members; Flexible benefits program; Onboarding and initial training plan; Continuous learning platform and Financial Literacy Program; Internal mobility and talent development programs; Scholarships, merit-based grants, and vacation programs for employees’ children; Newborn kit; Seasonal flu vaccination, subject to voluntary enrollment; Somos Sonae program providing psychosocial, financial, and legal support; Ergocoaching sessions; Mental health promotion programs and nutrition consultations; Discounts and partnerships with over 300 brands; Free coffee and fruit at the workplace. **Application Process:** After submitting your application, candidates who meet the required criteria will receive, via the email address used during registration, a link to complete a digital assessment.
