Culture that values work-life balance **Description:** ---------------- **What is the Challenge?** The **HyperMorpH project** aims to develop a new generation of propulsion systems for hybrid-electric aircraft powered by liquid hydrogen, leveraging cryogenic cooling to make ultra-lightweight electric motors more efficient and economically viable. To achieve this, it proposes the development of advanced composites with high-performance thermoplastic matrices, optimized for demanding thermal and electromagnetic environments, as well as self-morphing materials for adaptive propulsor components. Based on sustainable advanced manufacturing processes and AI-supported digital tools, HyperMorpH aims to validate a fully integrated system at laboratory level (TRL 4), enabling highly efficient hydrogen-powered aircraft and decisively contributing to aviation decarbonization by 2050. The **JOIN2SCALE project** aims to scale up automated production of composite structural joints for offshore wind turbine foundations, replacing welded steel solutions and promoting more efficient and sustainable manufacturing in Europe. The project will develop and demonstrate an automated pilot line featuring robotic fiber placement, real-time process control, and in-line non-destructive inspection, ensuring high quality and structural performance. Technical, industrial, and sustainability validation aim to increase the competitiveness of European shipyards, strengthen autonomy across the wind energy value chain, and support large-scale industrial implementation aligned with EU climate and industrial objectives. **Your Mission:** * Evaluate, select, and integrate functional additives and sustainable raw materials to enhance structural, thermal, functional, and durability properties of polymeric matrices—prioritizing environmentally low-impact, recycled, or bio-based solutions * Develop and optimize sustainable composite materials aimed at reducing environmental footprint and complying with eco-design principles * Assess circularity and end-of-life strategies—including reuse, recycling, waste reincorporation, and by-product valorization—to ensure alignment with EU circular economy policies * Rigorously document all technical activities—including methodology, experimental results, validation, and recommendations—to contribute to project reports, internal documentation, and scientific output * Collaborate directly with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective integration of developed materials with areas such as simulation, systems, and advanced manufacturing processes **WHAT YOU CAN COUNT ON?** * Participation in challenging and innovative projects with high impact and tangible value generation for the industry * Opportunity for personal and professional development in a stimulating, informal environment that encourages and values new ideas * Employment contract with salary conditions commensurate with experience, qualifications, and job responsibilities * Flexible working hours and a culture that values work-life balance * Health insurance and access to a network of partnerships and agreements oriented toward individual well-being * 22 vacation days plus 5 additional days per year, including your birthday **Requirements:** ----------------- * Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Polymers, Chemistry, or related fields * Knowledge of materials and characterization techniques * Experience in polymer chemistry or fiber-reinforced composite materials is advantageous * Initiative, sense of responsibility, organization, autonomy, resilience, and strong interpersonal skills * Critical thinking and goal orientation * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to clearly explain technical concepts * Ability to effectively present results to team members or mentors * Experience working in a team environment * Minimum 2 years of professional experience * Proficiency in both Portuguese and English, written and spoken
