We know our people are our biggest asset so finding and retaining the best talent is critical to achieving our vision. **The Role** ------------ The primary focus for this role is to be a key and influential member of our Hiscox Re Engineering Team, within the Software Engineering Chapter. In this role you will be working in one of our various squads as we create new “Cloud First” solutions to add value to the business, while supporting and transforming our existing on\-prem and cloud systems. We are looking for someone who is aligned with modern software engineering practices and ready to embrace the use of AI approaches and tooling to allow rapid delivery of high\-quality value. Each squad has autonomy to determine their ways of working, with daily stand\-ups for those practicing scrum or kanban. Each squad is responsible for the timing of these, and flexible working can be self\-organised, as long as the business needs are met and value is being delivered. Coupled with hybrid working, this should enable you to enjoy a comfortable work\-life balance. **The Team** ------------ The Hiscox Re Technology and Product team is a modern, agile department seeking to work as closely as possible with our colleagues across the company to deliver true business value in an agile fashion. We are a group of engineers (software, data, quality), data scientists and flow engineers. We organise ourselves into chapters according to these professional disciplines. You would be joining our Software Engineering chapter. **Key Responsibilities** ------------------------ * Work collaboratively with stakeholders and your squad to deliver value * Grow your skills and knowledge in software engineering and reinsurance, through training, being mentored or coached by more experienced engineers in the team and via hands\-on engineering and feedback * Support your squad to drive forward delivery, by offering your opinions and knowledge * Produce technical design for change or to support requirements * Work with engineers across squads to develop and evolve our architecture * Ensure code is peer reviewed, unit tested and delivered through automated pipelines all the way through to the live environments * Ensure your code is secure * Contribute to the shared goal of helping all engineers to work smarter, through pioneering the use of Agentic AI **Person Specification** ------------------------ ### **Must have skills** * Enthusiastic, open and curious mind, keen to learn new things, get involved, take ownership and work together in an empowered team to make a real difference to our end users * C\# / .NET * Working knowledge of Azure technologies * Knowledge of good development practices, such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Source Control, branching, CI/CD Pipelines, etc * Unit testing * JSON * SQL * Graduate in a technical discipline ### **Tech Stack** * .Net * Azure Functions * Azure SQL Db * Azure Storage * Azure APIM * React * GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or similar * SQL (on prem) * WPF (on prem) Training and support will be provided for areas of the tech stack that you aren’t familiar with so if you have the “must have” skills, let’s talk about your future career within our business. *Work with amazing people and be part of a unique culture*
