Publisher - A Esfera dos Livros Pages - 224 When was the last time you took a risk? When did you say “no” loudly and clearly? When did you step out of your comfort zone—out of the sofa, out of your unhealthy routine, out of the patterns and molds in which you grew up? When did you take action, seizing the reins of your life without fear? Often, it seems we live at life’s mercy. We are guided by society and its prejudices, by the limits we impose upon ourselves, and by fear—a mere invention of our own minds. Without any self-respect, self-esteem, or confidence, we govern ourselves by values that are not our own, by people who smile at us and to whom we grant everything—and more—but who are truly toxic to our lives. Enough of living this way—don’t you agree? It’s time to change, and risk is the grace of life. It is adventure, it is the unknown, it is the search—and the most valuable opportunity to grow and achieve what you once thought unattainable, yet which was, in fact, so close all along. To live your life fully, you must dare. To do so, you must act, surrender yourself to the “now,” refuse to be influenced by others—their opinions, their criticisms, their judgments—and embrace life passionately. Life is a risk. Yes. But you are ready to live it. Gustavo Santos was born in Lisbon on May 27, 1977. He is a man without fear. He does not fear judgment, nor does he shy away from change. Indeed, his life is a faithful reflection of this very truth. At age 22, he abandoned his undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Sports just six months before graduation to pursue a professional career as a dancer. He lived his dream: he became World Champion with the group Hexa (2001) and National Champion as a choreographer (2002). Later, his body rebelled. Severe shoulder injuries plunged him into despair, forcing him to leave dance behind. It was the hardest period of his life thus far. He survived. He overcame it. He reinvented himself. He turned to acting—performing in theater and appearing in numerous widely known television soap operas. Subsequently, he hosted the program “Dear, I’ve Changed the House” for ten years—a unique experience. Yet, as all things begin and end, he decided to bring his television career to a close and devote himself exclusively to books—a romance spanning over two decades, now openly embraced.
