Functions include conducting social and educational diagnostics, identifying risk and protective factors, designing, implementing, and evaluating individual, family, and community intervention plans, as well as developing programs to prevent school dropout and promote equal opportunities. They further include socioeducational support for students and families, parental support, coordination with internal and external school services (notably social action, health, local authorities, and child and youth protection commissions), and participation in multidisciplinary teams in close collaboration with Educational Psychology and Vocational Guidance areas. In the specific case of the School and Training Orientation, Recognition and Validation of Competences Technician (SORVC), functions also include conducting school and training orientation processes, recognition and validation of competences acquired in formal, non-formal, and informal contexts, and supporting the definition of appropriate educational and training pathways aligned with students' profiles.
