DESCRIPTION This is an original Persian Tabriz rug, woven with wool on cotton, featuring very fine knots and measuring 182 cm x 117 cm. It is a beautiful and refined medium-sized Persian rug, an authentic piece from Tabriz, with vivid and well-defined colors and patterns, depicting a central "lake" surrounded by four "gardens" as per tradition. It was handmade, unique in design, and possesses the beauty and harmony of a work of art. Persian Tabriz rugs belong to the general category of rugs originating from the city of Tabriz, capital of East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran. Tabriz is one of the oldest centers for weaving oriental rugs, producing a vast diversity of rug types. Traditional Tabriz rug designs feature ornamental patterns with dominant background colors such as cream or ivory, red, or navy blue. Typically, their patterns are dominated by a central medallion, with surrounding areas decorated primarily with floral botanical motifs. The most typical examples from this school are grouped under the common designation "Lachak Turanj".
