As a channel to the market for a broad portfolio of products, the Research and Safety Market Division transacts with and represents the product lines of thousands of supplier/manufacturers in the laboratory and production space, both internal and external to Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Global Portfolio Management Team is currently responsible for developing a global approach to both category and supplier management in order to drive consistency in the portfolio across the world and to optimize the division’s and company’s profitability. DESCRIPTION: The Supplier relationship Manager has a key role within the European Portfolio Management organization, responsible for driving **supplier commercial performance, cost optimization, and value creation** across a defined supplier portfolio. This role goes beyond traditional sourcing execution and focuses on **delivering measurable impact on cost of goods sold (COGS), cash flow, and supplier terms** through structured negotiation strategies, data\-driven insights, and close collaboration with cross\-functional stakeholders. The Sourcing Manager acts as a **business partner to Category Management**, ensuring that supplier strategies translate into tangible financial results and competitive advantage. RESPONSABILITIES : Supports the business to deliver key category performance indicators, mainly savings, cashflow improvement, risk management, spend under agreement, portfolio expansion, supplier performance. * Drive measurable cost improvements across assigned suppliers, including price reductions, rebates, and total cost of ownership optimization. * Lead supplier Contract negotiations to improve profitability, cash flow and manage associated risks. Ensure all strategic spend to be under contract (\>80% of the cost), enforcing compliance to agreed commercial terms and addressing deviations. * Own and execute the annual price review process, challenging supplier cost increases through benchmarking, market intelligence, and data analysis * Secure competitive commercial frameworks and scalable supply chain setups as part of Portfolio Expansion * Assists Category managers in conducting supplier performance reviews with strategic suppliers to ensure both parties meet obligations under the terms of agreement, including performance standards and continuous improvement goals. * Interfaces with category leaders in EU regions, as well as cross\-functional stakeholders (supply chain, finance, marketing, quality, data, legal etc.) to ensure all category sourcing activities are aligned to a common set of goals and priorities. * Optimize cash\-flow by optimizing payment terms, conducting returns of dead inventory, aligning incoterms, reducing minimum order quantity, collecting rebates and marketing fundings. * Supports the Category Management team for the specified category by assisting in planning and conducting other product sourcing costs reduction negotiations related to: Stock Purchases Bulk or unit of measure cost efficiencies Scale Pricing Accessorial cost on the invoice Vendor Supported Pricing in support of promotional activities or key opportunities * Actively supports initiatives to optimize working capital, including payment terms improvement, inventory optimization, and recovery of financial benefits (rebates, marketing funds). Develops strategies and executes negotiation plans to gain additional Marketing funds and improvements in payment terms from suppliers. REQUIREMENTS: * Master’s degree in business. * 5–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing / procurement, with a strong focus on commercial negotiations and cost optimization * Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable savings and financial impact * Experience managing supplier relationships and contracts in an international, matrix environment * Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into negotiation strategies and business decisions * Must be able to work in teams with colleagues around the globe where English is a second language. * Experience in distribution, wholesale, or multi\-supplier environments is a strong advantage COMPETENCIES : * Commercial acumen and negotiation strength * Confident communicator, able to challenge suppliers and internal stakeholders constructively * Curiosity and willingness to challenge the status quo * Flexibility to address changing immediate priorities and still manage deadlines with longer\-term projects and strategic initiatives. * Ability to quickly gain command of internal business systems; identify patterns and trends within data to assist with product cost analysis that will demand excellent knowledge of research tools e.g.: Excel and Business Intelligence systems.
