Wiring Development Engineer

Company
Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a Wiring Development Engineer to design, document, and industrialize electrical wiring harnesses for UAV platforms, with emphasis on reliability, weight, and EMI immunity. Key Highlights: 1. Integrate the electronics team, focusing on reliability and weight 2. Central role in selecting connectors, cables, and materials 3. Collaborate with firmware, mechanical integration, and production teams We are looking for a Wiring Development Engineer to join our electronics team. You will be responsible for the design, documentation, and industrialization of electrical wiring harnesses for our UAV platforms—from power distribution to sensor data and communication connections—and will play a central role in selecting connectors, cables, and materials. You will work closely with firmware, mechanical integration, and production teams in an environment where reliability, weight, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity are top-priority requirements. ##### **Key Responsibilities** * Design UAV wiring: define topology, size conductors, route physically, manage bend radii, clearances, and fixation points; * Select connectors, contacts, cables, sleeves, protections, and identification materials, evaluating electrical and mechanical performance, lifecycle, weight, cost, and supply chain; * Produce manufacturing documentation: wiring diagrams, bills of materials, connection tables, crimping specifications, and acceptance criteria; * Define and implement EMI mitigation practices at the wiring level: twisted pairs, shielding and its termination, separation of signal classes, minimization of current loop areas, and grounding schemes; * Support internal or subcontracted wiring prototyping and manufacturing, including supplier qualification and quality inspection; * Conduct validation tests: contact resistance, vibration and tensile testing, dimensional verification; * Collaborate in defining connectorization requirements for new PCBs (connector families, keying, and error-proof assembly). ##### **Desired Profile** * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field; * Experience designing wiring harnesses for demanding sectors (aerospace, automotive); * Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard and familiarity with standards applicable to wiring design and maintenance; * Knowledge of connector selection for embedded applications: circular connectors, micro-connectors for compact avionics, and their corresponding contacts and crimping tools; * Practical knowledge of system-level EMI/EMC; * Knowledge of high-frequency and RF wiring: coaxial cables, SMA/MMCX/MCX connectors, losses, and routing precautions near GNSS antennas and radios. * Strong communication skills with multidisciplinary teams (electronics, mechanical, production, procurement); * Willingness to work on-site in Alverca do Ribatejo. ##### **Benefits and Career Opportunities** * Monthly gross salary range: €1,400–€1,500; * Meal allowance of €10.20 per day (paid via card); * Family health insurance (Fidelidade); * Integration into a multidisciplinary and innovative team; * Stable employment contract (permanent contract); * Opportunities for professional growth and development in a relaxed, continuously learning environment. ##### **We Value Diversity** We promote equal opportunities and diversity, encouraging all qualified individuals to apply.
