Continental is recruiting a Data Engineer to join the R\&D Digital Solutions team in Lousado, with a flexible work model.

In this role, the selected candidate will play a key part in building and optimizing data platforms and pipelines that support AI-based solutions for global fleet customers.
**Responsibilities:**
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for real-time and batch processing;
Work with IoT and telematics data from connected tires and vehicles;
Develop and manage cloud-based data platforms;
Optimize workflows for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency;
Implement data quality, validation, and governance processes;
Ensure compliance with security and privacy requirements, including GDPR;
Collaborate with Data Scientists and MLOps Engineers to deliver reliable datasets;
Support end\-to\-end AI and machine learning services;
Contribute to analytical solutions that improve safety, reduce costs, and extend tire lifecycle;
Mentor and guide junior engineers;
Review technical work and promote best practices;
Organize knowledge-sharing sessions.
**Requirements:**
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technologies, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field;
2+ years of experience as a Data Engineer;
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL;
Experience in data pipelining, particularly with Airflow;
Practical experience with big data and distributed processing frameworks such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Kafka, or DBT;
Solid knowledge of data modeling and relational, NoSQL, and time\-series databases;
Familiarity with data versioning and lineage tracking;
Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban;
Ability to work collaboratively in teams;
Structured, autonomous, and organized working style;
Good spoken and written English proficiency.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Experience working in international teams;
Experience with IoT, telematics, or connected mobility data;
Knowledge of MLOps, machine learning, or advanced analytics;
Experience in cloud environments and scalable data platforms.
