Working in IT at Kuehne\+Nagel contributes to more than we imagine. ‎ As a Database Engineer \- PostgreSQL(m/f/d) you will design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL environments both on\-premises and in AWS RDS as part of our internal Database\-as\-a\-Service (DBaaS) platform. Our team provides managed database services to KN business units worldwide, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security for mission\-critical applications. While PostgreSQL will be your primary focus, openness to automation and modern operational practices is essential. Experience with automation is beneficial, but a proactive mindset toward automating repetitive tasks is what we value most. **How you create impact** * Design, configure, and optimize PostgreSQL environments on\-premises and in AWS RDS. * Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to support application requirements. * Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the DBaaS platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. * Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives and establish best practices, particularly in database automation. * Drive automation initiatives for database provisioning, patching, and monitoring. * Create and maintain documentation for automation solutions and self\-service processes and actively learn new technologies relevant to your work. **What we would like you to bring** * Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, performance tuning, replication, partitioning, and high\-availability solutions, including experience with both on\-premises deployments and AWS RDS. * Basic experience with automation or scripting tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Python, and a strong willingness to further automate database operations. * Knowledge of MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server is a plus, as is familiarity with Terraform, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and Git for version control. * Strong ability to analyze issues independently and perform root\-cause analysis. * Self\-motivated, able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. * A confident communicator and reliable team player with a goal\-oriented working style. * Excellent written and spoken English skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across teams. * Willingness to travel to Hamburg approximately 1 \- 2 times per year. **What's in it for you** You will have a direct influence on the future of logistics and IT.
