Job Summary: We are seeking a Generative AI Engineer to lead the development and integration of advanced AI/ML and generative AI solutions into business systems and processes, within a growing company. An expanding Food Trading and Distribution company, investing in technologies and integration solutions, seeks to strengthen its Information Systems Department with a Generative AI Engineer. You will join a team developing advanced business-oriented solutions, combining technological innovation, scalability, and operational impact. WORK LOCATION Faro KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead, develop, implement, and evolve AI/ML and generative AI products and services, ensuring their integration into business systems and processes in alignment with the overall architecture and applicable best practices. * Contribute to defining, validating, and evolving the AI/ML solution architecture, including decisions on models, data pipelines, application integration, scalability, security, and maintenance. * Design and implement scalable, modular, and reusable frameworks and components supporting multiple use cases—namely summarization, classification, entity and information extraction, keyword identification, and large language model (LLM)-based solutions, including RAG architectures and other generative AI services. * Ensure end-to-end technical execution of solutions—from design and functional/technical specification through development, testing, evaluation, and production deployment. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (architects, data teams, security, infrastructure, and business areas) to align objectives, functional requirements, and technical decisions. * Identify constraints and improvement opportunities, proposing and implementing solutions based on best practices in programming, modeling, automation, and continuous improvement. * Collect, transform, prepare, and standardize data for exploratory analysis, machine learning model development, and building reliable, relevant, and contextualized generative AI solutions. * Understand client-department needs and contribute to designing innovative, robust, and scalable technological solutions, maximizing value generation from both technical and business perspectives. REQUIRED PROFILE * Higher education degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems, Information Management, Data Science, or related fields—or equivalent relevant professional experience. * Solid knowledge of designing and developing generative AI solutions, including large language model-based solutions and use cases requiring higher technical and functional complexity. * Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and Python data libraries, such as TensorFlow, Pandas, Scikit-learn, MLflow, Keras, PyTorch, among others. * Experience with large language models, particularly in prompt engineering, RAG architectures, LLM evaluation, and continuous improvement of LLM-based solutions. * Experience in data modeling, including relational databases and SQL. * Knowledge of AI governance and ethics applied to algorithm development and usage—including bias mitigation, model robustness, and explainable AI (XAI)—is highly valued. * Strong sense of responsibility, availability, initiative, autonomy, and proactivity. * Critical analytical skills, plus planning and organizational abilities. * Proficiency in English (spoken and written). * Valid driver’s license. * Residency in Portugal.
